I think what people struggle with on Twitter (me included at times) is that the "cool" people we follow with tons of followers and always engage in lots of multi-person conversations have built a following over time. Most big players on Twitter have been Tweeting for longer than those of us who have jumped on in the last year.<br /><br />With today's instant gratification mentality, it's difficult to condition yourself to not force things. Be helpful, listen/learn and engage. I've found this helps show your true you and is the key to building an online network.<br /><br />Oh, and step out from behind the computer once and a while and network in person. Isn't a natural tendancy when talking to someone you like to mirror their body language? <br /><br />If you're the new kid in school, it's hard to be yourself to start. It takes time to settle in to your own grove. It did for me.<br /><br />But I agree - being yourself is key. Be yourself.
